Statement
I WANT MY WORDS TO COUNT. I am a real person, with a history, biology, curriculum vitae; an identity. However, I don’t want my words to stand on the shoulders of those data points. So, I've created Alexander Mint: a blank slate.Identity matters deeply and personally, and I don’t begrudge anyone its use to contextualize their art. However, the knowledge of a writer’s identity works against literature-for-literature’s sake. Knowing “me” first and foremost by my identity compels you, the reader, to view my writing in a politicized light rather than by your own unadulterated perception of its meaning.I hope to offer the reading experience I’ve always craved: falling love with words and ideas on their own terms—unbiased; freely.
